3 Basic SEO Tips For Your Jewellery Business

SEO is vital for any business, as it helps to increase your online presence and bring highly qualified users to your website when done right. This is also the case for jewellery businesses, so if you aren’t already investing in SEO, now is the time to do it, and you can start with these three simple tips! Whether you have a vintage jewellery business or an affordable small boutique, there is no time better than now to be investing in SEO.

Choose Qualified Keywords

The first thing you need to do when starting SEO for your jewellery business is to choose qualified keywords. You will need to conduct keyword research (there are plenty of tools out there) to identify different terms that people are searching for on search engines that might be a good result for your website. Once you have found keywords that could be a good fit and you know how popular they are, you need to make sure that you choose the ones that are most relevant to what you offer.

For example, you might try to target “engagement rings” as a keyword, when you actually sell vintage engagement rings, people are far less likely to land on the website and find what they are looking for. Whereas, if you target something much more specific, like “art deco engagement rings”, when people land on the website, they are much more likely to become a customer as opposed to just a visitor.

This is really key, as you would much rather have 100 users come to the website and 10 of them make a purchase, compared to have 10,000 users and only 5 people purchase. Plus, often when you choose more specific keywords, it is much easier to make progress with them more quickly.

Focus on Accessibility

Another tip we have is to focus on accessibility, as making your website more accessible and SEO often come hand in hand. Google wants to show their users good websites that they will find easy to use, which includes accessibility (websites that are easy for people with visual impairments to use, for example).

So, when you implement alt tags on all of the images mentioning the keyword, you will be helping to create an accessible website which Google will likely reward you for in terms of rankings. This is also the case when it comes to a good heading structure. Consider what Google would want to see in terms of accessibility and then make those changes with your keyword in mind.

Link Build

Although there is so much we could discuss, our last point is to link build. Although what you do on the website itself is vital, known as on-page SEO, off-page SEO is just as important, one element of which is link building. This involves reaching out to good quality blogs and asking if you can create content for them, then when you send the article over, you include a link back to your own website. When this goes live, Google sees that link and when they build over time, the bots will start to realise that your website is being mentioned across the web and that helps to improve the authority of your website. When Google trusts a website more, they will reward you in terms of rankings.
