Carla Halpern joined LACCM in 1999 and worked as a staff attorney in the Families & Children and General Law units before becoming the project manager for the Worcester Fair Housing Project. Carla currently coordinates education, outreach and fair housing testing. Carla is a trained mediator in small claims, criminal, divorce and family law matters. Before coming to LACCM, Carla worked at Statewide Legal Services of Connecticut, handling consumer, public benefits and family law cases. Carla also interned with Pine Tree Legal Assistance in Aroostook County, Maine, with the Hale & Dorr Legal Services Center in Jamaica Plain, with the Environmental Crimes division of the Massachusetts Attorney General's office, and as a community organizer for the Dakota Resource Council in Dickinson, North Dakota. In law school, Carla was the “Just Cause” columnist for the Harvard Law Record and president of the school's National Lawyers Guild chapter. Upon graduation, Carla received the Irving R. Kaufman fellowship for work in public service. Carla is licensed to practice in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the U.S. Districts of Massachusetts and Connecticut.
